Inktober - Part 2

Introducing four announcements, the bookmark prizes, and two extremely special story projects! Also, schedules.

Okay, so I must admit, I've done an extremely good job at ignoring my blog for the past couple of weeks. But, fear not, because I have done this with a purpose ...

///

One thing I've done with this month is finalizing some of the prizes. At the very end of September, I announced my intention to host an Inktober contest on my blog, and I've worked on designing the prizes for the second competition. (Missed that assignment? Check it out here.)

So, without further ado, here are the designs I've been working on:

I honestly am having trouble deciding on my own. Which ones are the best? Comment your favorites below! (There are only going to be three finalists. The first three are the first options, the second two are the second options, and the last three are the third options.)

This is your official reminder that you must submit your story and/or snippets by Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 11:59 PM (PST) for it to count. For more information regarding how to submit your story and/or snippets, visit this post (https://auroraoriens.wixsite.com/a-m-lambert/post/inktober-2023-writing-competition).

Secondly, I've been working on my Inktober project. And while I haven't written every day, I am excited to see how it develops.

(On a side note, because I'm so excited about it, it'll probably be a while before I end up sharing it. Because I end up working on a lot of projects, and I want to edit this story before sharing it, I probably won't get to editing it in a while. Thus, it'll probably be a while before I share it.)

This project has been extremely entertaining to me. Without spoiling too much, I can tell you that it involves a couple of my favorite things: France (specifically places I've stayed in), languages, and science (is mentioning that the said science is time travel spoiling? I hope not).

Because I have been so obsessed with it, I ended up creating a mood board.

What do you think? Should I share a couple of snippets sometime? Comment below!

///

My third surprise shouldn't really come as a surprise to email list followers. Over the past couple of months, I've merged some of my major projects, and the remaining storyline has formed into a trilogy of sorts.

And the first book? Well, that's the story I'll be writing for National Write a Novel Month — but I'll be changing that a bit this year.

I can't spoil everything in one post, though, can I? This Saturday, I'll be posting my edition to Know the Novel: Part 1. Last year, I also participated in this competition (hmm, might that story be one of the plots I combined during the summer?) but I never did the last two parts. Hopefully, this year will change that.

///

Lastly, I have an announcement regarding blog schedules. I don't think I can promise a post a week anymore, because this year my course load just got quite a bit heavier (I'm sure a lot of students probably would disagree, but, well, that's how it feels to me) and I also want to spend more time on writing for my projects and not just for my blog.

Starting November, I'll be trying to post at least every other week, aiming (hopefully) for one nonfiction post and one fiction post every month. (Ideas on punishments to hold me accountable? On second thought, that might not be the best idea...)

That's pretty much it for today, but I'm really excited for Saturday. Really, this "new project" will be at least the fourth draft of at least two different projects (three? I don't even know anymore) that have been in the works for almost three and a half years.

I can't wait to share it with you!

P. S. If you haven't seen it yet, I updated my old post "Don't Publish Your First Story" to "Don't Publish Your First Story — Yet!". I like this new update a whole lot better. What do you think? You can check it out at https://auroraoriens.wixsite.com/a-m-lambert/post/don-t-publish-your-first-story-yet.

I ended up NOT being able to catch up. I still submitted a couple of snippets for best snippet, though. I've decided that I will keep on doing Inktober because I can.
